Do you think people who are just a one click away, can be lonely?

They can call whenever they want and check upon each other if they are seven seas apart but their lives depict the shallow shell.

People are connected and still can’t claim to have the most solid bond.

It’s just a contest of sharing reels. Does that fulfill your need for connection? No?

Maybe time to rethink your connection basis.

But is it really a fault of technology? If yes, can we change it? Let’s dive into the topic.

Is Technology Really Making Us Lonely?

In the past when there was no invention of mobile phones or electronic gadgets, people used to connect with each other over gatherings making huge bonds.

The same situation goes for the current times! Yes, it is true. On the contrary, it has twofold connections. The current generation has built thousands of communities connecting the whole world.

But it is not as simple as it seems. The connection that this new generation is making is only digital. There are a lot of platforms where people can connect with each other but they are left with void emotions. This also leads to a sense of disconnection.

So, technology is playing its role in making individuals lonely.

Virtual Connection And Loneliness

Many experts believe that the constant use of smartphones can prevent you from making personal connections. You are just there to share your success or show off.

For many people, it’s become a habit to use their smartphone whenever they can get free time, and this behavior leads to loneliness. A University of Arizona study supported this idea, claiming that adults with more usage of smartphones developed more tendency to get depression.

Despite being connected, people on social media develop hollow bonds because their interaction often lacks emotional connection. They develop more surface-level interactions.

The Importance of Human Connection

Human beings cannot stay away from each other. It is embedded in the genes of humans to stay connected.  From a very early age, we start depending upon others. Whether it’s food, shelter, or emotional dependence we all need someone to rely on, or sometimes just someone to listen to us.

Those who cut off society and stay lonely are more likely to damage their physical and mental health and their ability to flourish at work and in every other facet of life also destroyed.
