History of Canada Games

The idea for the Canada Games was first suggested in 1924 by Norton Crow. The idea, as usual, didn’t get much support. But on May 30, 1965, a funding agreement was signed, and the first Canada Winter Games officially began.
In 1964, Canada’s Centennial Commission suggested holding winter games in 1967 to celebrate the country’s 100th birthday, and the government agreed. Since then, Canada has held both summer and winter games every four years.
